Extended warranty

Hey guys I just bought a 2017 focus se HB with 45K miles and at the time was talked into a 3 YR 75K mile warranty under the notion that there was not an existing manufacture warranty left on the vehicle.

Well now a couple days later I realize that there is still the 5 YR 60K mile powertrain from Ford that will. I am still within the 30 days to cancel the warranty for a full refund ($2600) but this is a bumper to bumper with no deductible.

So should I cancel the warranty or keep it? Do you guys have issues after the manufacture warranty runs out?

No do not keep it. Save the money. Every financial expert in the world is against extended warranties. You could put $2,600 in a online savings account earning 2% interest much better.

If it has an automatic I would say yes as it will be requiring a lot of work. If it is manual you probably dont need it. That being said, if you can't do any basic car repairs you probably could use it.

You were ‘talked’ into it because that’s how dealerships make money, off of finance & selling you add ons, not from the car sale, so save your money.

Nope $2,600 is a ton of money. That will buy you a transmission. Not to mention you're probably financing the warranty, so you're paying interest on it.

Cancel it. The $2600 you save should more than cover any issue that pops up.

Cancel it - I have 8yr/100K warranty that cost around $1500 so 3yr/75K is way too expensive.

You can get yours from a different dealer even in a different state so you can shop around if you really want one.

The bottom line is this: The only bumper to bumper warranty is 3yrs or 36k miles, whichever comes first, from the initial month/day/year that the vehicle was first sold & driven off the dealerships lot.

From that point, all of these so called ‘extended warranties’ CPO cars, 100k warranties etc., are not bumper to bumper, have many loopholes & only cover certain powertrain components. All of that is likely written on the agreement in those tiny little letters that you’ll need a magnifying glass to see & that no one ever reads.
