Oil Change Indicator with Mobil 1 Annual Protection

I tried Mobil 1 Annual Protection with the correct Annual Protection filter last time around, it claims to be good for 1 year or 20,000 miles. Well, my change oil indicator came on today, pretty much exactly 10,000 miles since my last oil change. Did I get shafted on this Mobil 1 “20,000 mile” oil or does the oil change indicator just max out at 10,000 miles? 2012 Ford Focus SE

The indicator doesn't sample the oil. It's based on your driving habits.

Thanks @LmestarFF95, guess I’ll reset it and wait for the next indicator this fall in 10k miles. The fact that it was basically 10k miles exactly made me suspicious.

I don’t like the thought of not changing oil for 20,000 miles.

Yeah... It's not like an oil change is an expensive thing to do on a car.

I don't like the idea either. You're putting your faith in a company's marketing campaign. oil does so much more than just general engine lubrication.

I'm using Amsoil Signature series, rated for 25,000 miles or 1 year. I change it every 6,000-9,000 miles.
Like all the others stated the oil warning is based on a timer, not oil quality.

Still not a believer in 20,000 oil changes. The most I'd maybe stretch is 10K with a full synth.
