My Focus Upgrade

Hi everyone. New to the forum so please be patient with me. I have the basic focus edge estate. I'm sorry if this has been asked before and maybe you can point me to the thread if it has.... My question is, what can grab off of a better model, say from the breakers yard for example, to update my focus? I would particularly like to upgrade the basic radio at least to be able to connect my phone to it, but I also like the idea of the sat nav option. I have also read, it's not that difficult to install cruise control? Any answers will be welcome, especially from those who have actually done the upgrade. This will be an on going project, so please don't tell me I should of bought a better model!!! Thank you.

https://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/...g-dashkit.html

A thread there about the iDatalink Maestro dash kit, which will allow you to install an aftermarket stereo, which is probably the easiest way to get the features that you want.

I'd thought that even the base radio had Bluetooth, but I see that the very bottom end does not.

The aftermarket will offer Bluetooth pretty easily, and you can get double-DIN decks with a touch screen that offer navigation, and a connection for a backup camera that could be nice to have. Or you can get an inexpensive deck with just the bluetooth and minimum features that you are looking for.

Thanks for your reply SupraGuy. I'm not 100% sure the radio that's fitted is the original anyway. If I got one out of another focus with Bluetooth function, do you know if it's just a case of 'plug and play'? Presumably, to use the phone through Bluetooth I would have to fit a microphone somewhere?

There are a few threads in the electronics/sync thread about upgrading the radio. I think to go to the top end with the MFT, it's more work and expense than it's worth, but you could probably go to the Sync1 without too many problems.

However, I would caution that the Sync1 radio seems to be plagued with problems, and lots of people with that setup are jumping ship to the aftermarket.
