I just couldn't stay away
So last September I sold my 12 SE hatchback manual with plans to buy a turbo veloster. Due to the geographic isolation of where I live, manual transmission vehicles are in very short supply and high demand. I couldn't find what I wanted and winter was coming, so I bought a 15 Malibu 2LT. Great car, loaded with all the options and super low miles, but it just had no soul, boring to drive.
I'd been trying to find an elantra GT sport lately but again, hard to find car in short supply. Today at a dealer auction, I snapped up a 15 focus se hatch with 35k miles, one owner, leather interior, 17" wheels, 4 wheel disc, backup camera, and the ever important manual transmission.
I must say, either my 12 was sadly out of its gourd (very likely and one of the reasons I sold it), but this 15 hauls a--! Maybe the tune is better with the mk3.5 or something but the clutch is better, better power, better seats, better controls and better steering wheel. The only thing I'll miss from the Malibu is the huge 8" touchscreen but mostly just for backing up.
I've got a list of mods, and this car is fully stock. It does not have heated seats, so that's on the to do before winter. I'm hoping I can swap out the HVAC control unit for one with the heated seat buttons from another se and then tap into power under the seat? The fuse panel in the Hatch area had pins in it for heated seat fuses so.....
Also gonna add the ST rear sway bar, new tires, tint the windows, add keyless entry buttons, some tasteful bling and some backup sensors on the lower rear fascia. Just as soon as I unload my Malibu, it can all begin!
