Motorcraft batteries are the best.

Title says all.

Seriously, they last a long time and the MAX batteries offer a great deal on a 3 month replacement and 100 month warranty at $129 MSRP. They tend to be the least expensive compared to other in house brands such as duralast and autocraft.

No reason to get optimas, They have gone downhill in quality and it seems to be just a marketing scheme.

Everstart and interstates are trash.

I only got 4 years out of my motorcraft battery. I bought an Everstart ($120 CAD) to replace it. I guess we'll see how long it lasts.

*dons flame suit*

Lucky to get 4 years out of one in Houston temp swings, though that's all I'd buy just to force the dealer to warranty it.

The Panasonic N-61/25L/WD is only 4mm longer. The width and height is the same.

My Moto lasted 4 years, which is just about what I've expected out of batteries over the past 10+ years. I went with Autocraft Gold. 3 year replacement warranty, and if you catch a sale, it's not more than the Motorcraft. I like the flexibility of extended hours and being able to return it for replacement to any Advance Auto in the US in case it dies suddenly.

As I recall, there are three main manufacturers of car batteries; Exide Technologies (sometimes labeled as Exide or even Willard Exide for those of us that are older!), Johnson Controls, (they make most of the Die Hard batteries sold thru Sears; may have made some Interstate batteries etc..) and East Penn makers of the Deka battery among others... (haven't seen any Deka batteries out in San Francisco Bay Area, but they are strong in North Eastern part of the US.

Don't know who makes the Motorcraft battery, does it really matter? What matters is getting the most recent manufactured battery with specs that meet or exceed the original manufacture specs. The BCI book that many auto parts retailers have, give the OEM specs and size grouping of various cars, trucks, etc.

I do agree that the Motorcraft battery is a good buy in my area; it sells for less than nearly all the other national brands, i.e., Delco, Interstate, DieHard, etc. But it should keep in mind that the free replacement period is very important; this helps you to avoid paying more for a replacement pro rata battery than you paid for it originally.

Also, check what the warranty on the replacement battery is; in many cases, its only based upon the ORIGINAL PURCHASE! date, so if your battery has less than 50% of original warrnaty time left, you are in most cases, better off purchasing a new battery rather than a pro rata deal.

I know this after having adjusted many batteries both at dealerships and at various auto part stores, both chain and individual.
