I have the Premium ESP on my 2016 SE that covers my car for 5 years/125,000 miles (I drive over 20,000 miles per year). Dealer cost was $1930, but I actually got it at no cost because the dealer used the $1930 rebate on the unused portion of the ESP on the 2013 Focus I traded in to use towards the ESP on the Fusion.

Im also on the same boat, my current ESP runs out in 2,000 miles that I got when I purchased the car in August of 2015, as a Certified Pre-Owned car I got the 12 months/12,000 mile warranty and powertrain till 7 years/100,000 miles, so regardless I still have powertrain till late 2019. I declined the ESP when I bought the car because I figured the additional $32 per month would not be worth it, but now I wish I did get it, but at the same time, I know I am still covered with the transmission which is the biggest problem on our cars. I was hoping to buy the ESP with my tax return but turns out I got no return, so no ESP for me, so Im hoping my car has no issues

Everyone has an opinion on this. To me its like insurance, if I need it its there, if not its not that much if you factor how much a month it costs you. Mine was right below $1000 for 7 years which works out to 11 something a month or the price of one cup of coffee a week. At the time I got mine I got it from Ford Extended Warranty | Genuine Ford Protect ESP and they were the cheapest. Don't know if that's still the case but worth checking.

They were telling me 1495 plus tax at the dealer. I've opted not to at this time. I went through and read a lot of unhappy people's reviews because they would deny claims for the most trivial things.

By the point I'm out of my factory warranty I'll be 3/4 through the payments so if it goes downhill fast I'll just trade it.

Simple fact. For 95% of us If you turn down every extended warranty offered to you, you will end up with more money in your pocket in the long run.
They push them because they are profitable. Meaning the game is rigged, you pay more than they pay out on average. Take the money and put it in your 401K!

I choose to pay for the insurance of extended warranty. Just like I choose to have full coverage insurance on the vehicle as well, though I haven't had an accident in over 30 years. My experience is that extended warranty has almost always paid for itself, whereas car insurance hasn't. I'll continue pay the $16.25 a month for peace of mind.

We're required by law to carry car insurance. Plus the liability coverage protects assets.
If extended warranty coverage makes you happy, buy it. But odds are you will not come out ahead.
