Nope, can't do it.

Not for lack of desire to help out, because they don't exist on the MkIII.

DPFE was only used on the Zetec engine for an EGR sensor, Zetec and early Duratec had EGR valves of different types but that was dropped when the Duratec got TiVCT (variable cams) for the latest GDI version.

SVT model didn't have EGR either for the same reason.

That's good to know! I had pulled a P0402 code on my MKIII a few days ago but now, after Seafoam, the check engine light went off! I sent a report and found that it was back in running order! My problem is solved today!

So what does the P0402 code mean on the MKIII? After filling up the tank yesterday somehow this morning driving up the bridge the check engine light came back on! Why? I hope someone could help me find out! The first time the code came up I had a full tank of gas! After getting down to half a tank the check engine light went off but with the help of Seafoam! Well, I haven't poured Seafoam in the tank yet. All help is appreciated and thanks in advance from a Focus Noob!

You really need a separate thread, this is going WAY off topic for "emissions purge valve location" and won't get proper attention.

P0420 is a CAT code that is sometimes a false one actually involving the purge valve on the MkIII. Dealers have been known to do the purge valve first as a cheap fix before going to the CAT as a warranty repair.

P0402 shouldn't apply at all.

Great - double check your actual code # and look at the old thread(s) for that code here (P0420 if it applies).

i think there is some misinformation regarding the purge valve and the vent solenoid on the evap canister--a malfunction of one of these parts can cause the fuel tank to collapse which can cause all sorts of issues.

it would be nice to know which one specifically is responsible because i don't think the purge valve in the engine bay is the culprit most of the time. i believe i heard my fuel tank make a loud popping noise a few days ago and it looks a little deformed on the bottom. i'd hate to just replace the purge valve when i really need to drop the tank and replace the evap canister and vent solenoid.

more info on this would be great. and i've looked and not found much.

MkIII problems section has more information.

The issue was first brought up here, before it became known as a more common problem. Many are still doing it under warranty or looking for warranty coverage, so the references stay here and in that section.

While it doesn't seem reasonable to many, the existing purge valves in the engine compartment have proven to be a real issue with fuel tank deformation. With a full fix running in the couple grand region out of warranty, catching it early is a high priority.

Evap canister valve has not shown a tendency to fail in a manner to cause this issue.

Bottom line - purge valve code or unusually small fuel fill means check it out right away!

Regular gas can't cause an issue, unless an actual case of BAD fuel with contaminants.

Check codes in detail, exact numbers and status can hint at a lot. NEVER a solid diagnosis per se, how directly they point at an issue varies.
