Hey the evap system is not covered by either the powertrain or the emission warranty???

WTF!

The purge valve is NO JOKE, there is a TSB for it, if stuck open or shut, it can cause gas tank to deform and damage other parts resulting in up to a $2500+ repair bill!!

Thank the government & auto industry lobbyists at work, what was once a warranty on the whole emissions system is down to a warranty on specific 'major components' of that system in the USA (some differences in California).

ok so i got a new purge valve. it worked, even though they gave me the wrong part. it was about a foot too long so i cut it down and used normal vacuum hose. all better for me. so yes the valve can get stuck closed and open. mine happened to be stuck open.

Good thing you replaced it before it caused other damage!

I ended up getting reimbursed for most of mine. Agree....should be covered under emissions warranty.

The part cost me 90 at the dealership and took me 40 min to install... My tank went back to normal and running like a top now... Save a total of 490 bucks doing it myself rather then dealership... Thanks everyone

I believe you save close to 2000$ ... a failed collapsed tank (if you didn't catch the problem) , the next step in a bad evap problems require the whole replacement of evap purge, gas tank & fuel pump!!!
