MS-CAN works with 125000 bit/s but it means that you are not allowed to select lower value!
Seems you are partially right.
I had some errors at first "Can't init ELM" and "Can't erase flash" with higher bitrates.
I was also able to flash at 38400 so I don't think that is the problem.

It took 11 hours to finish the 6.8MB "pictures" file...with 2000000 bit/s which is absolutely insane. (Real speed: = ~550 bit/s)

By the way guys after 14 hours I have successfully updated the IPC firmware on my car with an OBDLink MX and FoCCCus software.

I will post more information soon including what Sagenut asked for for both my firmwares - BM5T-14C026-BP and BM5T-14C026-BBD.

The bitrate is very important but the most CRITICAL is timeout = 1ms!

I use USB ELM327 on chip STN1170.
This is fast so max banwich is 5000000 bit/s.

Are you really using Bluetooth adapter for vbf files? This is dangerous! Don't do it.
The setting with timeout is inside driver.

Too late?
OBDLink MX with STN1170. Worked fine, just very slow. I couldn't find the timeout setting in the driver / device manager.
New firmware is perfect. I added the compass after taking this picture:

Ford VCMII is also wireless and I'm pretty sure that dealers are instructed to program the car wirelessly.

Where did you get new firmware?

(Click "Module Reprogramming" on THIS page to get there)

BM5T-14C026-ACC — "Pictures" - Layout, Structure
BM5T-14C026-AFE — EEPROM / Secondary Bootloader
BM5T-14C026-BBD — Firmware /

As long as you know what you are looking for you can download it there.

Things I found out when upgrading:
If you stop the upgrading process when the VBF is uploading it will break the IPC but you can still upload again. With other modules, I doubt you can recover so easily. (TCM, PCM, etc will probably turn the car into a brick)

It does not matter what order these are updated, the IPC will still boot and work with new firmware and old EEPROM and old "Pictures", there may just be a few errors in settings (options missing or listed that aren't supported).

I updated BBD firmware first, then AFE EEPROM then ACC pictures. No quad screen or new layout until I updated ACC, but after BBD I had already gotten instant fuel economy and after AFE the settings menu changed some.

PM me and we can meet up some time this week. :)
I'd imagine Ganley Ford would want $200+ to do it.

I don't have HIDs but I'm looking at getting a set soon. That stuff should all work fine - since I can pull the build info and flashing modules worked.
EDIT:
I'm going to add global open / close here this evening.
