Yeah, the FF Electrics are push button. Shucks, the BOYO looked like an elegant solution. Thanks for all the ideas guys!

the key is in the fob if you look at the sides of the fob near to where the keyring bit is you will see some raised bits, press both these and the back cover will lift up slightly, if you remove this it will reveal the key (if you have the keyless entry and start)

scroll to 2 mins to see how

You can get keys without the remote fob that can still unlock the car and start it. For that matter, you can also get a key blade cut that only unlocks the vehicle (does not work to start it). This would be a good thing to put in an exterior box when storing the full function key inside.

Thanks. Where would I find such a key do you think? And what sort of locksmith could cut it?

I'm assuming yours is a laser key like my 2012. It takes a special machine to cut these so it would take a specialized locksmith or a Ford dealer. My dealer charges $10 to cut each key which isn't too bad.

Here's a key with a transponder chip so it will start the car once cut and programmed. Like I said, you can also find these without a transponder chip. Or, if you want it just to unlock the door but not start it, you could just get the chip key and not program it.

Then you want the second one (chipless) or something similar.
