Getrag 6DCT250 Dual-Clutch Tranny in the 2012 Focus...

...will likely be faster and more efficient than the manual tranny. See:

http://www.getrag.de/media/0000001557.pdf

and

http://www.schaeffler.com/remotemedi...2010_10_en.pdf

Oil is ~$85/bbl today and projected to go to $115/bbl by next year on strong demand from China. If proportions hold, that's gas at over $4/gal next summer. We need this kind of efficient power train NOW!

id still rather have the stick shift and take the MPG hit than to have the DCT.

wow. sounds like some great technology. I would still like the stick shift just for the fun factor but then i already use a getreg in SVTF so i like these guys. I wonder if they will be doing the standard gearbox as well.

I recall someone here saying that the DCT tranny in sport mode will actually run up and down all the gears, just like in a manual

I believe a paddle shift option will be available. For the ST? Possible.

I built a 2012 on the website and wear I saw a 'selectshift' (aka paddle shift) option.

Posted via FF Mobile Powershift which is the dry clutch dct powertrain in the fiesta and the 2012 focus does have some sporty shifting options. In the fiesta the L gear will hold the gears up the redline before it shifts. In Foci without select shift will probably also have this, cars with selectshift will have a manual shifting via buttons on the shifter shaft. Sorry not paddles yet, but hopefully well see them in the very near future, I personally think theyll be here for 2013 model year. Would be awesome if they offered it on the electric focus too, as well as a manual trans.
