If anything, the 1.6L EcoBoost will end up in the Fiesta ST, but this has not been officially confirmed. I wouldn't expect to see anything smaller than the 2.0L in the Focus, and then only the ST will see the EB. Oh, and I wouldn't hold Your breath for a 6 speed. You will turn blue, lol.

The 1.6l has not been talked about as of yet. Will it come? Maybe but it wont be released in the first year. To the OP reason they did this is to cut cost during production. Many people who want a manual that are not enthusiasts are people who want basic basic options. Manual transmission, manual doors windows etc. Granted there will be sme tyat want upper trim levels with a mnaual but theres a decent amount of options available on the SE trim. And probably what Ford figures is if an enthusiast is will to pay over 20k for the focus they will most likely buy an ST, which will pretty much be an SES/Titanium. Yea the ST price has not been released but theres as much of a chance that itll be priced at 24k as it can be at 27k...but we shall see. If you dont want an ST, try out the powershift auto, you may like it, def not your traditional automatic trans.
Was not intentionally trying to make confusion, only predicting based on where One Ford future plans appear to be heading. And EcoBoost powerplants being applied across the board appears to be one of the #1 priorities, to meet the new EPA regulations, emmissions etc for 2015 and 2020.
See below some remarks in articles pertaining to my reasons on why I am writing what I am writing.
Quote from Jim Farley Fords head of Marketing -"We intend to have EcoBoost across every one of our vehicles as a core powertrain," Farley said. The premium engine is not intended to represent a small portion of the sales mix, but a "substantial" offering across the lineup.

From The Detroit News: http://detnews.com/article/20100914/...#ixzz12tS229Rz

Another article pertaining the future powertrain goals - The company hopes to produce 1.5 million EcoBoost engines by 2013. Ford is placing so much faith in its turbocharged engines the that company plans on using the engine in 90 percent of cars built in the U.S.
Weight reduction and turbo charging is just part of Ford’s plan for meeting the 35.5 mpg fuel economy standard the federal government is requiring by 2016.
And my reason why I believe you will see a 6spd in future Focus variants - FoMoCo plans on equipping 98 percent of cars sold with six-speed transmissions and start/stop technology on 20% of their cars by 2014
http://reviews.carreview.com/blog/fo...-lighter-cars/

I hope this shed some light on why I am predicting what I wrote.

As far as a North American next gen Focus with the SES designation, I am not aware of this trim being offered as far as your fordvehicles.com site indicates at this time.
Ford N.A. sedan I read S, SE, SEL & Titanium, and the 5dr hatch SE, SEL, & Titanium.
I suppose SES could be used in future applications.

Now back to my predication of the 1.6L EcoBoost eventually making its way into the N.A. Focus powertrain offerings.
All indications of this engines 1st application to be seen in the Americas will be in the new 7 seater Grand C-MAX, which has a planned launch date in the Americas 4th Quarter 2011, which means late fall of 2011. And it has been said that the 1.6L EcoBoost to be used in this C-MAX will be the more powerful output 180hp.
Now it makes sense to me once the C-MAX is launched in the Americas with this 1.6L EcoBoost, then for MY2013 Focus Ford N.A. will add this EcoBoost to the normal Focus line up, not to be confused with the 2.0L 247hp EcoBoost being launched in the Focus ST.

Yeah, but the SE has drum rear brakes (4 wheel disc are standard on the SEL), 16" steel wheels, and downgraded exterior trim. I don't need the auto park or rain sensing wipers..but some of the newer technologies would be nice.

Are there any details on what the SE Sport Package will provide?

Wheels, seats, prob like leather wrapped wheel and I think you can get rear discs as an option on the SE.

The internet is a good resource tool, according to the official 2012 Focus order guide, posted in Blue Oval New Focus forum. http://www.blueovalforums.com/forums...ide-available/ There is a link to the PDF file.

SE Sport Package:
Sport tuned suspension, REAR DISCS!, Sport seats, black grille, spoiler, metallic trim inside, and leather wrapped steering wheel. Select shift is only if one gets ATX, otherwise, row you own gears.

I double checked the '12 order guide, and there is no more 'SES'.

It's S, SE, SEL and Titanium series. There are packages for the SE, including Sport and Fuel Economy. SEL and Titanium also. But no more SES as a stand alone trim level/series.
