FFE recharging issues

Bought a '14 FFE in Dec '16. 23 K miles. FUN ! Had a street rod ,never drove .Drive this thing all the time. Really fun. I have, I hope what is a small problem with charging with my 240 charger. Sometimes it will only charge to about half. 30 MTE. sometimes it won't charge at all until the next morning. Could this be a settings problem ?Hope this goes to the right place !

You stuck it in a General Tech Chat thread on the cabin heater switch system for early Focus models.

I'll make it a thread of it's own for "charging problems" in the Focus Electric section.

Not a very busy area, so an answer might take a bit. Glad to hear you're enjoying yours, I hear more about the Hybrid C-Max versions than the Electric.

P.S. - Welcome Back!

If you have Sync with MyFord Touch..... Turn the vehicle on, press that little leaf icon (EV Info Button - the button to the immediate right of the home button) around the bottom center of the touch screen. There should be settings and info there regarding vehicle charging.

That should help you figure out what's going on. If that doesn't resolve your issue, it's possible there may be an issue with the high voltage battery or your charger.

Hopefully you've figured this out by now. Posting for anyone having similar problems. There are "Value Charge" and "Charge Now" settings. It's well known that these are buggy as hell. They rely on the TCU (telematics control unit) Sometimes pulling the fuse to reset the TCU solve the problem. Sounds like you may have value charge settings enabled. They can be found in the SYNC infotainment unit. Also when you turn off the car the right dash screen will display a selection between the Value Charge and Charge Now. This can be set up to be location dependent and may change depending on where you are.

The other possibility is if you've had any work done to the battery or charger and they didn't do the procedure to purge out all the air bubbles in the coolant. If that happens there can be localized overheating in the charger which the car will stop charging to protect itself.
