I've uploaded what my spark plugs look like after changing them. The first picture is the factory set changed out at 100K per maintenance schedule.

The second picture was the plugs changed out at 150K in order from passenger side cylinder to the driver side. I'm not sure why there's so much oil on the 3rd cylinder's plug threads. I'm not eating any oil nor is there any black/blue smoke coming out my exhaust but there was fresh oil sitting down in the spark plug hole as if some oil was spilled down there during the last oil change.

My 2016 SE 5dr 1.0 hatch had no factory options, but came with rear discs and the dual automatic climate system. The funny thing was that the window sticker **on the car** claimed that it had rear drums.

I’m at about 40,000 miles, no issues so far except for the occasional Bluetooth freak out. All I do when that happens is just shut down the car and restart it to reboot the system. You can do it at 60mph if you’re not in traffic 🙂

Also - not trying to start a religious war - I’ve been sticking to the 10k mile oil service recommendation. I’ve never seen the oil service light come on.

Anyone else doing that as well?

I’m convinced the Focus 1.0 has no oil service system at all. I’m at 74,000 miles and never seen anything. No one but me has ever touched my car.

I change at 5,000 miles but mostly because I tow a lot.

I change mine at 5K miles too, a lot of highway miles and idling while sleeping on road trips.

I thought the OCIs for normal driving were every 7,500 miles per the manual?

The manual says to use the oil life indicator, with a footnote not to exceed 10,000 miles between services.

It’s unclear to me whether that 10,000 mile recommendation is driven by the engine oil life, or because they want to make sure other stuff gets checked out.

Nice. Out of curiosity (sorry for OT), what do you tow, and how much does it weigh? I have thought about trying to tow a teardrop camping trailer.

The european weight limit for the 1.0 towing a braked trailer is 1200kg (2600lbs), but the speed limits for cars towing are lower there as well.

The manual states never. But I've seen people tow little things like a small uhaul trailer before (but was a DCT hatch focus.)

Yes, that’s not uncommon in the states; same for BMWs, which have very high tow limits in Europe but a compete prohibition in litigious North America.
