Which Code Reader will work?

Hi guys,

partner has an old 2005 focus mk2 New Zealand import.

Its engine light has just come on, my suspicion is its just the battery as it nearly didn't crank one day but since then it seemed to crank fine.

But thought it would be cool to have a code scanner anyway, Ideally I want to buy a cheap as chips one off aliexpress, one that will read the code and clear the light. Anyone used one a cheap one that can confirm it works and can send me the name of it?

thanks

Battery light and check engine light are 2 different things. Would not cheap out on anything.

In case it helps anyone else, I bought the ELM 327, cost $5 from a local shop and even cheaper on aliexpress if you don't mind waiting.

Worked well and picked up two fault codes.
