2005 Ford Focus Catalytic Converter

Hello,

New here. My girlfriend has a 2.0 2005 Ford Focus that I believe was first sold in Arizona. I am unable to determine which cats will work and won't work because I am in California and we can only get the carb compliant cats. I am looking for options that will ship to Arizona but it seems like there are all kinds of different cats. Any idea on which ones I can get that will fit?

Which cat are you replacing: the 'manicat' or the downstream cat? Where will the car be registered?

Hey paul,

The cat directly connected to the manifold. Code was reading bank 1. The car will not be required to be smogged.

Pop the hood and hopefully there'll be a sticker and will say either Federal emissions, or California emissions. Also you need to see if you have air injection or not. The sticker should label all emission components of the car by abbreviation.
What code do you have?

I guess I dont understand what issue you are having and why you need to replace a catcon.

Hey Paul,

Sorry not the best story teller. CEL was throwing a code for it. Was driving down the freeway and it definitely clogged and stalled the car.

That would be the sticker but the picture is not showing all of it so I'm not quite sure what it says.

The sticker says to EPA and California regulations. So I am guessing that the current cat is CARB compliant. Now my next question is because it will not be in CA can I get something cheaper that is not CARB compliant?

My suggestion would be to look at the part that's on the car now look at RockAuto whatever one you order make sure they look similar because there is a difference. The only cat I've ever had to replace was on a Ford escort I went through three parts before I got the right one.
