Kicking Out Lots Of Smoke... Seals Just Replaced. Help!

Hi everyone,

Like you, I love my Focus MK1 (2.0) to bits. Spent a lot of money on it in the past, and owned it for nearly 7 years.

It's done 180K, but just found out it was probably clocked by ~40K+ before I bought it — according to Experian DVLA data!

For the past few weeks, it's been smoking burnt oil from the exhausts real bad on start up for a minute or so. Also puffs some out if I boot it during the first 15 minutes. Can smell it in the car at times, too.

I've just had the engine seals replaced (they didn't take the head off, but they definitely did the job) — yet the problem is still there.

What else could it be? Is there a real Focus enthusiast / engine specialist here who can sort this out for me / any repair advice that isn't going to make me bankrupt?

I looked at new engines but it just doesn't warrant the spend w/ labour, based on age of the rest of the car ... I just want to try and fix it somehow.

I'm based in Leicestershire, but I can travel.

Thanks a million!!!

Compression test it. Maybe your rings are shot.
