Yea it'd be hitting different parts moving or otherwise....Possibly even the ground....Remove it & replace both sides w/ a new pair. http://c-f-m.com...http://rockauto.com

i doubt it would be burning they wont be able to contact the actual brakes because of the shield... as for the endlinks they are common to break.. they are a heavily used part as it goes under alot of stress from every bump and when you turn a corner..

as for the burning smell park one side of the tires up a curb or jack up one side and see if you didn't catch something on the exhaust.

also what Make, Model, Year and engine type (SPI, Zetec, SVT, Duratec) is the car. also is it a Euro or North American?

if the end link was broken free, it could have been wedged against a moving part or the ground causing friction/heat. Hard to say if its the source of the smell without jacking that side of the car off the ground after a good drive and doing some investigating. I would try to check the car out with the wheel off first and see if you can find anything else that might be causing it

When you replace the endlinks, make sure your sway bar is centered between both sides of the car. Always a chance it could get pulled/pushed from the other side that was connected.
