PCV valve?

So I'm doing some routine stuff to my daughter's Focus, to make sure that the car is ready for her vacation run.

I don't know when the last time that the PCV was replaces so I got one at the parts store and went to put it in. It used to be that they just popped into the valve cover. Not so.

I went online to see what was what and it looks like it is on the side of the block by the exhaust manifold. I can't see the thing.

Any suggestions?

It's actually easier to see and deal with from under the engine bay. Do you have a Zetec DOHC? If so, look up at the top of the block at the front driver's side corner. The PCV valve is plugged into the oil separator between the exhaust manifold and the block.

The PCV valve itself is usually less of an issue than the PCV tubing. There are two pieces: an elbow that connects the valve to a metal tube above the thermostat housing, then a longer tube that connects from there to the intake manifold. If that long tube around back to the intake is soft at all, you need to replace it. If it collapses, the increase in crankcase pressure will cause oil consumption.

These are the hoses: https://www.amazon.com/Dorman-46030-...s=dorman+46030
