Lower it w/ a good spring/damper combo, bigger sway bars such as the Eibach 22/25mm, swap out the front brakes for svt calipers/pads/rotors which is direct bolt on. Motor wise, go for the Steeda sri, sts & a tune would help also. IDK how far you want to go motor wise? http://c-f-m.com, Massive Hardcore Racing Performance Parts - Massive Speed System - Ford Focus Specialists - Homepage.....

You wont be able to add much power for cheap but like was mentioned above, you can help the handling and stopping. Having a slow car you can drive at the limit can be more fun than a fast car you cant put the powerdown on normal roads

You can always add lightness; remove anything from the car you live without. Making the car more nimble is always a plus.

Moved to the MkI Mods section for general discussion, the Showroom is better to post pictures and talk about your car.

I added a LOT of fun to my '04 by installing the SVT suspension and finding a used set of SVT wheels (fresh takeoffs, hardly used).

Suspension & wide Summer performance tires really woke it up.

On my SE I got the SVT Suspension, 17" Wheels, SVT intake with a 65mm Throttle body. Total cost for everything, under $1000. Afterwards I got Tom's Tune to bring it all together and it's hella fun to drive.
