Doors on the passenger side won’t lock

I have a 2002 Ford Focus zts. Bought this car recently and the passenger side doors (front & back) didn’t lock. You could hear it trying to work but it never would. I’d just lock it manually myself. Last night however it stopped working all together. Can’t hear it try to lock AND I can’t lock it manually. It’s like stuck on the unlock position. Any idea what could be wrong and what I should do? I don’t know much about cars but I can follow directions easily. Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you!

Latch gone bad, they quit the first way when the inside dries grease up to not move enough to trigger the limit switch to autolock, then at some point it seizes up even more to not work at all. You have to get inside to fix it and that destroys latch doing it. New latch is the only cure there. I fix mine to work fine but you absolutely cannot go there.

When you say the latch has gone bad what part are you talking about exactly? Like the sensor or actuator or what?
And what do you mean ‘I fix mine to work fine but you absolutely cannot go there’?

Yeah it just decided to work again. Going to be dropping it off at a mechanics place tomorrow for him to have a bit more thorough look over. Man I’m starting to regret getting this car but I already love it so much. I’m torn lol

See my post here:

BTW any 17 year old car - Ford, Toyota, or Mercedes - can be a bag of problems.
