2012 Focus SE left axle leaking

Have a question maybe someone can answer for me.
Replaced struts, lower control arms, inner and outer tie rods, and brakes all around. Went to put the left tire on and noticed oil coming from the CV joint boot, not where the axle mates to the trans, but the boot. Now I know there is a seal where the trans and axle mate so sort of confused as to why I have oil leaking from the boot where I figured grease should be. Any advice would be appreciated before I pull the axle.

The grease is so thin it can appear to be an oil. Or, the grease is separating into the base oil and the grease solids, which is not harmful (it remixes at movement) but it appears you have slightly punctured the boot to fail it. I'd clean it well then drive it a bit to see if it does it again before you simply tear down. With all the work done there you may have dripped fluid say yanking an axle.
