2012 focus s dual clutch replacement

All of a sudden my tranny failed and shot off all kinds of codes. The dealer said he would upgrade the tcm but if that doesn’t work he would recommend a dual clutch replacement. The car was driving great just last week and only had 2012 miles. Has anyone had this replaced? Did it fix it? Ford wants two grand. Will others do for cheaper? TIA

How is the DCT behaving right before the failure? Given it's a full-on transmission replacement I'm doubtful you can get it below two grand. As Tom said, could it be just a TCM failure?

Would have asked you if you searched for used DCT trannies but I wouldn't imagine those being reliable given it's a DCT.

55k miles. It did shudder at first but after the last update a few years ago it was driving perfect. Some connector broke on the tcm while they were “upgrading” it so they can’t try that till Monday. If that doesn’t work they will then recommend the double clutch replacement. I’m nervous they will flash the Tcm and the problem will return. They made it sound like the physical tcm was fine, just needed re programmed hopefully.
