Parts from FordParts or other third party websites?

So my friend swears by this site called RockAuto. I need a passenger side motor mount, as well as some other things.

The motor mount there is only like $7, and a front headlight assembly is $38, definitely cheaper than FordParts. Of course cheaper doesnt always mean better. Do you think this cheap motor mount is gonna be bad quality? A headlamp replacement, I figure would be fine from this site, and what you see is what you'll get

My dad has used many parts including a motor mount from Rock Auto for his 02 focus. They have done him well. With that being said he isn't rough on his car and drives like a grandpa all the time. I would give Rock Auto a shot.

Ive been a Rockauto customer for well over a decade. What I like most about them is that for most parts they offer a range of brand/price/quality levels that I can choose from. Additionally unlike many other online parts stores or local parts stores RA offers genuine Ford MOTORCRAFT parts and prices below that at most dealers. These parts tend to be more expensive that other brand parts but are typically better quality. The truth is in todays world of everything 'made in china' determining what is a 'quality' part/brand can be elusive.

Only you can decide what level of price/quality you want/are willing to settle for. In most cases with auto parts (like everything else) you get what you pay for.

Good luck
Paul

I love RockAuto. But I would highly recommend buying a OEM passenger motor mount. You can get one on Amazon for about$100.

Mounts are one of the few parts that are crap from Rock Auto. The aftermarket simply does not make that part as well as Ford does and I say that after taking many of them apart to see why. That goes for Anchor, Westar, NAPA, or DEA brands, they all come from the same crap Chinese factory.

Ford changes the rubber compound to suit with every single application, the aftermarket uses pretty much one rubber like concrete to stop them from breaking yet they still do in as little as a month. The quality varies so wildly it cannot be said, one guy gets what seems to be a good part yet far more get ones that come apart to run pieces through your belts and bring the car down. I have myself seen new ones that rattled more than the broken one I was replacing.

I sold those mounts OTC as well as having personal experience with them, I warrantied so many aftermarket ones you cannot count and Rock will sell them to you for $7. Many go on cars and come right back off they are so bad. I do love Rock Auto for all the other parts they sell cheap but you have to know the vendors and whether they sell crap or not.

Ford only there, you will spend more but no disappointment either.

They're legit... I buy close out wiper blades for around 5 bucks a piece. I've bought O2 sensors, brake pads, rotors... etc from RockAuto. Go for it...

$7? For a 2012+ the OEM passenger mount is around $70. I went with that, bc the aftermarket PSM's are supposedly worse than OEM.

I love Rock Auto and the parts are great if you know the vendors like I do, no problems. But if you are one of the prissy people who demand to be able to b-tch about every little thing (yet you don't know spit) they have cut that out by cutting back on customer service, the whiners were driving them crazy with returns based on said persons being too stupid to identify or install the parts correctly. Rock expects you to be smart enough to first order the EXACT correct part and after that have the skills to be able to install it without breaking it.

After my last stint in parts I understand that 100%, the losers working on their own cars today often do not have the wits of much lower forms of life now and do the dumbest things you can imagine to then cry about all the 'bad parts' they buy, the same parts that were good until they touched them. I would agree the parts were bad and then put them right back on shelves to have the next guy with some sense buy them again and what do you know? No trouble at all. It happened so much I could not count the times, and even with so-called professional mechs. We are in a new world where many do not think enough to heat their hair oil. One look at the government conveys that instantly.
