2005 ford focus

not sure if this is the right place to post but....

i have a 2005 ford focus ended up changing out the front and back seats and changed out the shifter knob "automatic" then turned over the car and the speedometer stopped working was wondering if anyone had any ideas what the problem could be

Did you pinch any wires causing them to ground out? Usually changing out what you did, doesn't really affect anything. There are connectors and wires that go under the seats that you may have pinched, causing them to ground out, which would cause a fuse to blow. Check your fuses first to make sure that the one for the gauges isn't blown.

I have a vague memory of this same exact story. Pinched wires under the seat crashes the data-bus / buses (ISO, SCP, CAN). This also results in dashes in the odometer (--------). A fuse may OR may not blow during this.

Wires for RCM/RCS (restraints control module) system.
