What do you do when part not made anymore?

Part from ford for canister purge valve for my 03 2.3l is:
3s4z-9c915-ad

Can't find it anywhere. Not even aftermarket. Closest I can find:
https://www.dormanproducts.com/p-740...ord&origin=YMM

But that's for a freestyle. I can find others (not for 03 focus but for 07-11) that doesn't have the testing port on it. What do I do?
Like:

Now the 287, the plug is facing wrong way and I don't think there would be room, bump up against the brake fluid res. So my next bet is the 281 i guess.

Ignore the test port. Buy one to fit the duratec in either 2.0 or 2.3, it's a simple open or closed valve there. The only thing that matters is the working volts and likely the same.

Mounting issues? Surely you are not so dumb you can't figure out a way to retain it, the part weighs nothing, you can put it anywhere as long as away from direct heat. Plastic wireties are your friend there.

You can try searching fordpartsgiant.com they are good about showing parts that are obsolete/no longer produced and saying what parts has replaced it

dardack 04-26-2019 08:09 AM

According to Ford and that website nothing had replaced it.

Hemmings interchange does it as well.

you may have already done this, but I'd suggest visiting a junkyard/pick & pull yard. I'm sure there are plenty of cars to choose from, and get two
