2013 Ford Focus - Fuel Economy

Hi all,

Trying to diagnose some poorer than average fuel economy of my 2013 Ford Focus.

Manual, Sedan, 78,000KM, 5w20 Synthetic, 2.0L Duratec

I owned another Sedan - similar to everything above and got about 15% better fuel economy. The only measurable differences were my new car has 17's vs 16's on the old car, and the new car has rear disc brakes.

Using Torque, I see my STFT and LTFT both usually pretty positive - even when the O2 sensor is above 0.5V (showing rich from what I unstand). I would expect the STFT to be negative when the O2 sensor is showing rich - I come from Diesel cars so this stuff is a bit foreign to me.

I've ran a log file with
-RPM
-Engine Load
-STFT
-LTFT
-MAF Sensor
-O2 Sensor Voltage
-Fuel Flow
-Timing Advance
-Throttle Position
-Coolant Temp and Intake Temp

I'm hoping someone can make some sense of it. Air filter has been changes, oil has been changed. No CEL. I just want to make some sense of it before I start throwing parts around.

Thanks!

What is the gasoline ethanol content in Canada these days?

What are the ST and LTFTs (percent)?

Paul

Ethanol is around 10%, but it's been that way for years. This is calculated from the same station as well.

ST and LTFT vary, but seem usually be positive. I have the full log in the post above.

The post is a bit vague,

what is the old car?
what is the new car?
what avg are they getting?
what avg are you expecting?

The brakes should help with stopping not eco. The rim size doesn't say much, the rim could be 8 or 20 but if the outer diameter is the same it will only effect ride comfort and handling.

Both cars were 2013 Ford focuses. I was just pointing out that the fuel economy was worse with new car, even though they're essentially the same.

Average is 8.6l/100 (~27mpg) and the previous vehicle was 7.1l/100km (~33mpg)
