2005 ford focus zx4 please help!!

Hello new to the forum hopefully you guys can help me out. I bought a focus with the 2.0 engine. Check engine light was on and ran the p0171 bank 1 to lean and p0193 fuel pressure sensor. I replaced the pcv hose cause it was cracked and had holes and it didnt get rid of any codes so I replaced the fuel pressure sensor and reset the PCM by unhooking the neg battery terminal and then went to start the car and let it idle till the idle dropped down to normal idle but that did not happen. The car will hardly idle now and runs really rough. I'm at a lose. Any opinions on what to do would be great. Thanks in advance.

Dude, chill out with the multiple posts all over the place. You got flagged and your posts couldn't get approved due to the way you sent several posts within a few minutes. Make a post, wait some time and let people check it out before you decide to post again. We have these measures set up to reduce the amount of advertisement spammers. I moved this thread to the "General Technical Chat" area, as someone would be more likely to help you here.

P0171 (System Too Lean Bank 1) - means the o2 sensors have detected that the engine is running lean (not enough fuel/too much air)

check the throttle body and exhaust manifold and make sure they are secure and arent leaking

P0193 (Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor "A" Circuit High) - could mean the fuel rail pressure sensor is either shorted, unplugged, or damaged/defective.

find the sensor on the fuel rail, check the plug and wires for damage, if those are fine the sensor probably needs to be replaced

these 2 codes are more than likely related and could be a fuel pressure issue, may want to look at the fuel filter (cheap) and possibly fuel regulator and fuel pump

Before you replace anything - put a scan tool on it: what is the relative fuel pressure (RFP)?

If the 'new' pressure sensor was off a junked car it may be that. A bad one. Rubber diaphragmed parts exposed to old fuel often don't do well, the rubber stiffens up like a board. Much worse now with ethanol in the fuel too, it happens like 3X faster now.

OP should also know that first starting of a car with disconnected battery it may run like crap at first but will get better over 15 minutes. You have wiped all information of how the car idled before from the computer memory. Sometimes you have to keep the engine running for the first minute or so until it begins to relearn idle.

The fuel pressure sensor I put on it is a brand new sensor. Itll startup idle good for a second then start idling like crap and die. I'm gonna try putting old sensor back on cause it ran good with it but was throwing the code.

You dont need a 'fancy' scan tool to get basic data. I dont have a fancy scan tool - mine is 8 years old but reads data PIDs on both my 02 and 05 Focus. What scan tool do you have?
