2012 Ford Focus Help Please

Ok first the specifications

2012 ford focus SEL
Powershift transmission with 122,000 miles

My friends transmission has lost reverse. I have a bluedriver auto scan tool and the codes that originally came up were

• P087A: Clutch Position Sensor "B" Circuit
• P287A: Clutch "B" Stuck Engaged

So I searched these forums and ran across a thread that said we should try swapping the "A" and "B" clutch actuators so we tried that and still no reverse so I ran the auto scan tool again and this came up

• P287A: Clutch "B" Stuck Engaged
• P0805: Clutch Position Sensor "A" Circuit

So I'm assuming one clutch actuator is bad but clutch B is still stuck engaged?

Is it clutch A or B that contains reverse?

Im pretty sure it isn't the Transmission Contol Module or at least since the car isnt throwing codes pertaining to the TCM (Ive checked the list of codes Ford wants to see to blame the TCM) my friend wouldn't qualify for free dealer service of the TCM right?

Ive done so much research and know the basics of this transmission and that it is crap. Has anyone had this problem and lived to tell the tale? I seen one other thread on here with this problem but no resolution from it.

Also now the car wont try to start until you turn the key on and off several times, I'm assuming that it's in limp mode?

Thanks in advance!

So for posterity I'm posting the results of my friends problems.

It was in fact the TCM all along causing the problems. Ford replaced it for free since it was under 150,000 miles and all the issues were resolved.

Except that the new TCM died 2 weeks later. Apparently Ford sent a bad batch of them to the dealership the week before and their lot was full of Ford Focuses with no reverse when my friend took the car back LOL

You don’t happen to be in Memphis, TN do you? Cause I’m about to take my Focus to my local dealer to have the TCM replaced. And I’ve been hearing horror stories about the service. They told me they would have my car for at least 2 weeks. My car stopped running a week ago. I had to rent a car for the last week for 240.00. Will they pay for me a rental or give me a car to drive while they are working on my car. What am I supposed to do with no car for 2 weeks. I can’t pay 500.00 for a 2week rental on top of the 240.00 I’ve already paid. I’m really stressing over this after seeing all the bad experiences people are having.

Hello
I have a 2014 Ford Focus SE and sometimes it won’t start and other time it will start but when it’s in drive it will not move. The code I get is “P0805” which it says it’s a Clutch Sensor Position Circuit. I saw that you had the same issue. Can you tell me where exactly it is located because I’m stumped. Is it where the clutch aculator is? Also, since you qualified for a free TCM, I have 90,000 on my car and I called and they said that I qualify as well, when I told them my issue they said it won’t be covered. What condition was your car in for you to qualify for a free TCM? Thank in advanced
