Three separate items here: population growth, immigration, and SS/SM investment funds.

First, population growth has already generally stopped in almost all "1st world", wealthier, stable countries. Countries having "Fragile and conflict affected situations", according to World Bank census, are having 4.2 births per woman. Countries classified as "HIPC" (Heavily indebted poor countries) are having 4.9 births per woman. Countries classified as "Least Developed Countries: UN classification" (mostly central Africa) are having 4.1 B/W. The replacement rate has been set at 2.1 B/W. All financially/socially stable countries have a rate well below the replacement rate (even The Peoples Republic of China, now prosperous, has a rate of only 1.6 B/W, with heavily overpopulated Hong Kong having 1.1 B/W). [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...fertility_rate ]

"Population Pressure" is already reducing willingness to have babies is all countries where the people DO NOT live in fear of the imminent untimely death of their family members/children, due to starvation/lack of health care/lack of education, caused by social unrest/war and/or political corruption.

Second and third: Immigration is a tactic to keep local capitalism in affluent countries in growth mode, and underpin global capital markets, due to the net drop in "native births". The value of immigrants is based upon social theories about the ability of various classes of immigrants to positively effect the fiscal landscape. Some Green Card immigrants come to spend huge amounts of foreign capital going to our universities, with some of them returning to their country-of-origin and some staying to contribute to the wealth and wellbeing of the USA as an entity. Some Green card immigrants are hires that contribute directly to our economic stability by filling a necessary function or employment position, and some illegal immigrants fit this profile... all pay into government coffers. The illegal immigrants that are paid cash (no taxes), unemployable (for whatever reason), and/or fill the rolls of gangs and organized crime are the ones who take a toll on government and social programs, functions, and constructions, while the others add to our overall wellbeing... that is if capitalism is to be maintained as a functioning standard. (Check out ch.6 ... https://www.nap.edu/read/5779/chapter/2 … a long and terrible read.)

If the status quo of capital growth is to be maintained, then we need much more in government expenditures, more police activities, more bureaucracy, and even a physical barrier to assess and address the "selection process" of total people wanting to enter the country, because we CAN NOT stop immigration, US Capitalism needs it.

Bernie Sanders is saying we need to change THE GAME, not just accept the status quo. His approach is to secure government functions for natives, while allowing market growth, by maintaining social stability for citizens (through federal safety nets and education reform), and by changing the tax code to make the distribution of social services more fair and even, throughout the entire "pyramid of classes", by making that pyramid into more of a "cube". Spread the vast wealth that is currently locked into the so-called "tapeworm economy" of stock market parasitism, that is the driver of fiat-dollar expansion, which reduces the wealth value of the whole current pyramid... that changes when more money is in the market for security, rather than for short-term wealth generation, more of a "cube". All this also works to protect the environment, because energy use is linked to stock value, via corporate efficiency, NOT the current practice, i.e. the subsidies of corporate welfare.

It's easy to point fingers and buy-into hating various innocent groups of poorly educated people trying to find a way to survive, if you have bought-into the lie that it is those innocent people who are causing the drain on our overall opportunity for success. It isn't them. It's the sink-holes of wealth in the 1-2%, and the lack of personal responsibility taken by natives to better themselves enough to compete with the necessary immigrants that WILL continue to come here. Too much of our own population is under-educated, and fall prey to the manipulations of cult-propagandists, who are trying to maintain a status quo that is suicidal.

The Shocking Paper Predicting the End of Democracy

Quote:
And therein lies the core of his argument: Democracy is hard work and requires a lot from those who participate in it. It requires people to respect those with different views from theirs and people who donít look like them. It asks citizens to be able to sift through large amounts of information and process the good from the bad, the true from the false. It requires thoughtfulness, discipline and logic.
More relevant to the prior conversation in bold(damn I'm sad I didn't think of expressing it this way, but then I'm not a laureate)

Compared with the harsh demands made by democracy, which requires a tolerance for compromise and diversity, right-wing populism is like cotton candy. Whereas democracy requires us to accept the fact that we have to share our country with people who think and look differently than we do, right-wing populism offers a quick sugar high. Forget political correctness. You can feel exactly the way you really want about people who belong to other tribes.

Right-wing populists donít have to make much sense. They can simultaneously blame immigrants for taking jobs away from Americans while claiming that these same people are lazy layabouts sponging off welfare.
Let us all take a field trip from Trump University on Trump Shuttle airlines eating a Trump Steak with our Trump (Made in China) red ties hanging as we land in Atlantic City to visit a Trump Casino paying homage to the one who will be great like Nero and whose son will be great like Caligula.

Think I'm being mean by using those 2 Emperors? Nero was initially known for bringing his people together to fight a growing decline in Roman morality. Nero was initially known, and loved, by the people for endless games in the Colosseum.

Decline is inevitable? No, decline is already here. John McCain's thumbs down might be the last time we see any elected leader do anything except play follow the leader. Get your Trump 2020 koozies from Amazon and kick back for the fireworks! Win or lose- there will be problems for many years to come.

They would be replaced immediately... err, i mean they would get voted out so fast.

The turning point for The Republic of Rome came after Julius Caesar returned from defeating the Gaels and took his legions into Rome to consolidate power unto himself, as Emperor... the end of the Roman Republic and the beginning of the Roman Empire. The Roman's democratic republic died with the walling death-scream of a warrior felled by the sword, our democratic republic is dying with the whining sob of a mewling sycophant demanding more favors before dying of syphilis. Sounds harsh, but as an analogy between the actions and consequences of Caesar's influence in BC Rome vs Trump's influence in 21st century USA, I stand by it [privileged Americans asking for more privilege, Christians warped by prosperity-preachers, political cults run by banking corporations and oilmen, media run by either the Pop Culture of Political Correctness or by hatred of same, and the growing expectation that a lone man (or woman... wait for it) can "save the day" and make America "just the way we want it" (whatever that means), makes that case.]

Political cult propogandists are to blame for stealing our democratic political process (especially, Gingrich et al) and turning it into a winner-takes-all gambling game; the "you deserve more" advertising campaigns (for everything from baby wipes to canned foods to gas grills to car insurance to SUVs to political ideologies) are to blame for the expectation of "ease" that makes us emotionally needy and weak; the vanity produced by "staring into the mirror" of all visual media is to blame for PC and self-righteous blaming of "others"; and all have lead us to radicalized polar views of either forgiving international and domestic criminal behavior, or self-loathing of our the privileges of citizenship in a dominant economic and military power. Enablers of self-entitlement.

I'm sure you are attempting to be funny, but try reading the Constitution for once. After that try reading the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights. After you have, the pathetic code-words of GOP propagandists won't obfuscate as much truth for you as they obviously do now. ALL the guarantees and provisions of all the legal documents are designed to establish and protect the democratic processes and freedoms in our "democratic republic". The jingoist juxtaposition of the words "constitution" and "republic" are used by GOP media cult leaders in an attempt to over-legitimize the GOP, as though the "Republican" party is somehow more aligned with America, as an ideal, and by extension, the sole arbiter of political rightness and justice. It denies that all our rights are democratic in their political nature. Try to be an informed citizen, not a mere cult follower... independence is what America is all about, not kowtowing to individual personalities with overly-needy egos.

Don't know what you are talking about. What is it that is "opposed to believing in existential threats that can only be solved with socialism"? What existential threat are you referring to (there are a few on our doorstep)?

Also, what is it about socialism that apparently scares you? The only people it should scare are the 1-2% percenters who currently pull the strings of our corrupt government. It doesn't stop anybody from having a job and making money (not even the 1-2%er parasites), or having a house and a family, or going on vacations and drinking beer/smoking weed/partying, or listening to the music you like, or living in a safe neighborhood, or singing the Star Spangled Banner at high school/college/pro sporting events, or engaging in any of the sins you "think are enriching your life", or being thrown in jail for certain of those sins... the biggest changes are; you won't have as many financial "warlords" to admire, and our civilization will last longer (still end one day).

I had to log-on to post this atrocity (all too common with our sick little prick POTUS). https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/polit...cid=spartanntp

There is no defending a weasel who can't admit when he has been dangerously wrong and harmful to others. This complete waste of air we are forced to call "POTUS" is now directly threatening the lives of citizens... simply because he wants to sound like he knows something, and loses his mind when he is contradicted ("like a 4 year old", as a few cabinet members in his administration have been saying since the first cabinet, and new ones continue to say). IMO, the Secret Service should be equipped with dart-guns, filled with tranquilizer, to shoot DJT when ever he starts to Tweet... save his and America's reputation, it would.

It's this type of stuff that would make me vote for a spider. I sure do hope he loses the next election. It's embarrassing we have an orange orangutan for president. Actually a real orangutan would be much better. It would probably actually take advice and listen to people that actually know their stuff.
