will a 05 motor fit in a 00 easily

My girlfriend toasted the passenger side of her 2005 focus SE, I'm pretty sure. It's the four door with trunk version. It runs beautiful except now there is all the body damage along with the front tires not parallel. I haven't checked out what it all entails yet, happened yesterday and I haven't been able to get it in my garage yet. I was just looking online for parts cars and I see a 2000 same model with blown motor. But what I don't yet know is if her 2005 engine will easily fit the 2000. I've been thinking about joining a focus forum because it is nice to be able to talk with people who have the same car as yourself. We can help each other out with the stuff that breaks or could be made better. I would appreciate if someone could inform me if the swap is feasible and if there is anything to find what years are the same in most cases. Jay

Yes. You will have lots of work with wiring and what not. But the engine with trans will bolt straight in. 03-04 also had 2.3L Duratec options for California and other emission heavy states.

Sent from another garage.

What years should I look for that wouldn't have electrical issues. I'd rather not go that route on her car. Needs to be a weekend job or I'll go the bodywork route so she'll still be able to drive.

That shouldn't be too bad though. Wait I wasn't thinking about all information coded in computer. Hmmmm. I would need to reprogram the VIN number and all that stuff. Keys too.
I need to get the car in the garage and find out extend of the damage first. I'm getting priority's mixed up. Thanks for the advice, I do appreciate it.

You'll need to swap over the harness as well as the fuel tank & all that goes with it. Like say before, some '03-'04's came w/ the 23. The '05-'07's were slight facelift w/ bumper covers, front fenders, hood, rear trunk deck, tail lights....The earlier cars came w/ either a spi or a Zetec or a Dtech for '03/'04.
