On my '04 I got a cloned key pretty easily and relatively cheap. I wanted a new key programmed in but it is more expensive and no one locally to do it(at least in my time frame, right now). If you have 2 programmed keys you can make more yourself easily not so with the cloned one. Also the cloned one has a replaceable battery in it. Bummer if it goes dead in the parking lot etc. I am keeping it as a backup and I will get a backup battery soon to keep with it. May go the real key route some day though. No remote with mine, will be looking into getting one soon if not to expensive.

I got mine on Amazon, cheap and you can program them yourself. Mine is a 2001 SE, wagon. I have no idea if you can program fobs for newer models.

https://www.fordpartsprime.com/ has genuine OEM Ford key fobs at up to 45% off MSRP if you're still looking for one.
