Look at the news and it becomes obvious why things are so messed up, the drivers are too silly to think in their own best interest. They were rescuing Nat Guard guys in NC today who sunk a Humvee. They decided to stop with the water 6 inches below the roof. Hilarious. And people everywhere driving in water way past the door bottoms, they think the SUVs can do it until the car stops. More laughs.

Wife and I discussing this morning how far the spread of all the bad cars will be once they clean them up for resale. We watched a news story a little bit ago about how the insurance companies swear to remove the cars from the streets but they don't, instead they sell them again to recover their losses. The story traced down several flood cars back to the companies and the doubletalk in defense was pretty amazing. The middle guys who facilitate it for the ins. companies simply create company after company when authorities get to them to file fraud charges. They simply change to another base state and start all over.

Have you guys seen the YouTube videos of the Blue Focus RS that was a flood vehicle & was bought as a salvage title? Itís amazing how the car looked relatively brand new on the outside, but the amount of damage that the water did inside the car was crazy. It was a huge project to get the car finally running again.

There are always people who try to sell flood cars. What you want to look into are the title laws in nearby states. Some states recognize "salvage" titles from other states, and some states don't. For example, MS doesn't have a salvage title, but TN does. You can take a TN salvage title, re-title it in MS, and get a "clean" title. Of course, title search information will show that the previous title in TN was "salvage"- if you do a title search.

Another way that "salvage" cars get sold as ok is if that loss was not reported to the insurance company. Possibly that car didn't have that sort of insurance coverage. It might even sit for a few years before being sold. It might have been titled in a state that doesn't have "salvage" titles. That's always a concern when looking at cars. Price is not always an indicator of the situation, if the car was never reported to the insurance company, no salvage title exists, then a dealer could sell the car for normal price. Dealers usually won't do this unless the car is sold "As Is No Warranty" because they don't want to have to deal with the problems- neither do manufacturers. "Lemon Laws" are sometimes ineffectual as well, some states have as few as 7 days on an "As Is..." purchase, and states usually require you to send in the car for repair at the dealer it was purchased from first before "Lemon Laws" can protect the purchaser. The 7 days could pass while the car was being "repaired".

I had Hertz Used cars attempt to charge me 9.25% tax on a car purchase. For those who don't know, in my state 9.25% is the standard purchase tax rate, but vehicles are taxed at 7%. I knew that, called them on it, they were arrogant, so I went elsewhere. How many other people just accepted that the tax is 9.25% since that's what they pay elsewhere? I'm sorry, but it makes me want to subpoena their transactions, contact everyone who paid too much and file a class action lawsuit as well as report that fraud to the financial crimes division. So I tried the last part, somewhere in a folder is my affidavit. I'm sure they'll get right on it to protect their citizens, you know, that oath that the LEOs take (sarcasm involved). It's ok, we are the idiots who elect the idiots who cut public servant's pay due to their incompetent financial decisions, so yeah, I'd find it hard to protect and serve also.
