SVT CV Axle Carrier Bearing

I'm planning to replace the CV axle carrier bearing this weekend. Will the Getrag gear fluid drain out when I pull the axle?

Often it doesn't if that side of the car jacks up high enough to stop it.

I'll be jacking it up on that side. I had the clutch and fluid replaced a year ago, so I'd rather not have to drain and fill.

Doing lots of work this weekend:
  • Front bearings and hubs
  • Axle carrier bearing
  • Front struts
  • Rear shocks
  • Brake pads all for corners
  • Serpentine belt

Thanks for the info, everyone!

I wouldn't call it pour, but definitely trickle. I would recommend changing the fluid with Ford synthetic fluid. Doesn't the service guide call for something crazy like gear oil every 10-15k miles? Good opportunity to change it regardless.

I believe you referring to the alternative:

Using Mobil-1 SYN 15W50 in place of the OE/Motorcraft SYN Manual Trans Fluid

^^^That's where you would have to change every 10 or 15 thousand miles depending on driving conditions^^^

Sounds about right. I still replace every 10k. Mine has 220k on the odometer, and I drive it like I stole it every day.
