gauges jumping crazy

In the last couple of days my gauges have randomly jumped crazily around for maybe 3 or 4 seconds, after which they settle down, except for the speedo, which stays buried at the far end for awhile. This has happened maybe four times so far. I can't think of any coinciding factors except that I've been working on hooking up my new/used radio. Has this happened to anyone else?

I had a similar issue a few years ago. In my case, it ended up being a loose fuse socket for the cluster. I ended up taking it to the dealer to locate the issue.

was the socket located elsewhere than the main fuse panel?

Thanks, David

It was in the interior fuse box. I had chased the issue I had for a while myself, then gave up and took it to the dealer. They found and fixed the problem inside of an hour, so I felt it was well worth the 120$ they charged.

If they do it only at key first turned on then a sign the battery is about to go.

Pretty random, not just at startup. Plan on new battery soon, though.
