Buying a salvage title 2002 SVT?

There is a 2002 SVT 3 door for sale close to me. Runs and drives good. 171,000 miles, wrecked in the front. Needs a hood, drivers side fender, bumper, cover, reinforcement, headlights, radiator support. CEL on for #2 oxygen sensor. I have 3 other focus , a 2002 zx3, 2006 zx3 ses, and a 2006zx5 ses with the SAP. My thoughts are to either to fix it and drive it or strip the wheels, rear subframe suspension w/disc brakes, rear hatch, rear bumper cover to upgrade my 2006 zx3 and sell the rest. I would put my old parts back on to keep it a roller. Price of the car is $900. So fix it and drive it or strip it and then sell the rest?

I agree with pasta. Strip and sell the rest. The front and rear bumper cover are discontinued parts; as are the side skirts. So you would have to be lucky enough to find a donor front bumper, which; I have search extensively with little success. Luckily, the damage to my front bumper cover is very miner. Best of luck if you do buy it.

Don't know about your area but I could get all the required parts from my local salvage yard for around a $100 so you could have a fully running SVT for about a $1000 plus the cost of a new 02 sensor (plus pulling the header back since that's probably what broke it in the accident). Now this of course would be using all non-SVT parts and painting them all one color would be optional, but the only things that is special and could be bought later are the headlights (or paint the non-SVT ones black or buy a new set online), the grill, and bumper.

Not sure which I'd choose but it would be a shame to strip a mechanically sound car over some minor damage if in fact it is still mechanically sound and it is only minor damage.

If it is Euro package you could sell the interior off and almost break even, then all the other parts you scavenge for your ZX3 are free.

Thanks for all of the responses. Closer inspection revealed front frame damage. I purchased the car for $400. I am using the rear bumper cover, front and rear brakes, side skirts, and the wheels. Sold the rest of the car for $300 to a guy in Spring who threw a rod in his 84k mile track only SVT. he just wanted the engine but agreed to take all of it. The interior was blue/black and worn, sunroof missing with a piece of plywood duct taped in place. I first saw this car last year on Craigslist. At the time it was not running and the price was $2000 so I did not even look at it. In the meantime, the owner removed the ac condenser and ran a small aluminum radiator with no fan just to get it running, he installed a new coil and thermostat housing. car was still missing a little when I drove it but I noticed the coil pack connector was damaged, very common on Zetecs. Feel pretty stoked. Thanks again.

good deal for $400

probably could have got more for reselling it.
I paid over $1000 for a running SVT engine at one point.
