For the fluid you use in the transmission. You use Mobil 1 15-W50 for both manual transmissions?

I would like to avoid this - is there a service manual?

2002 SVT needs a new clutch. Finances dictate it's a DIY. I don't want to do this twice (not really even once!) Ordered the LUK kit and found an "Eric the car guy" youtube video online for 2002 focus. Any significant differences for the SVT?

Is there a Chilton style, or any good manual for the SVT? Would like to see a step by step guide, model specific, with torque guides etc. Does one exist?

Thanks

Jim

^^^^^. Might be better in its own thread.

Search the how to's on this forum, be ready for a all weekend effort. Do you have a engine hoist or transmission jack? Doing this with just old jack stands will make it even more fun.

Might have to drop the front cross member which means an alignment after wards also.

It's a dual mass fly whe so things are different. I think the hardware are torque to yield so may want new fly wheel bolts? Need to replace the dual mass fly wheel?

Got lots of brake fluid to get the flush done right? That can be a PITA and can take several quarts to get right. Many recommend back flushing the brake fluid which means pushing it through the transmission into the brake reservoir. This is another tool. Make sure the clutch comes with the alignment tool and you keep that tool after the job.

Some bolts are 12 point bolts make sure you have 12 pt and 6pt sockets in the sizes needed.

Put any bolts off in labeled plastic sandwich bags to keep track of all bolts and parts taken off.

You may or may not need to adjust the shifter cables. Watch out of taking them off that the rubber and plastic inserts don't brake. There are replacements you can get but take time and more money.

Also if this is your only car and since it sounds like. It's your first time doing this be warned you may be down a car if you brake stuff...

Yes I've searched but can't find much on service manuals. I am a decent "cook book" mechanic. I don't have a hoist but have a good floor jack and stands, can rent a hoist if I need to.

I've pieced most of the info together, is it mostly the same as a regular (non- SVT) focus?

Mostly. The whole inside guts are going to be different. Due to dual mass. Not sure on the alignment and install procedure on that vs the non dual mass.

And if any part brakes your lot longer trying to find replacet parts for the Getrag vs the MTX-75.

Thanks Magus 2727

If it's the guts, I can hopefully figure that out when everything is open. It's mostly the removal and installation of the trans that intimidates me, plastic clips, connectors, getting to bolts to get them loose, breaking things because I don't know how to seperate them.
