Questions about SVT Temperature Guage and Fuel Lid Door

Hey guys

recently purchased a 2004 ZX5 Screaming Yellow SVT.

1st question --No matter whether the car has been sitting for weeks or recently running, when you turn the key to the "on" position and/or start the car, the temperature guage moves to the middle immediately. Is this normal or is an issue with guage or sending unit? no other car I have owned has ever done this.

Question 2 The fuel lid door when closed is not flush with the body. Seems like there is a bad spring?? What is the issue and how difficult is it to fix? Is this a common issue?? Any help would be great. Other that that, car is awesome

Thanks

Jeff

Temp gauge is a no. Not normal. Fuel door no spring there. Probably bent door.

Replace the gas door w/ the frpp's aluminum door. I'd also replace the temp sensor too......

You have any paperwork mentioning when the t/b (timing belt) was replaced? If not you'll want to do that very very soon....

My temp and fuel gauge sit in the middle all the time... as soon as the key is turned on they snap all the way down then slowly go to the correct spot, no idea why.

Could be a bad inverter that is behind the oil temp gauge. Known issue for SVT.
