Crushed O2 Sensors

I got a check engine light for the O2 sensors. They were both crushed. Anyone ever run into this?

I'm suspecting bad motor mounts could cause this, I replaced the dogbone mount tonight.

I also noticed that different brand sensors have a different diameter. I have NTKs in now, the ones I took out were larger in diameter with less clearance.

Some people say they are others say they arnt finicky with/without OEM. How did they get crushed? Exhaust moves with the engine so it can't be motor mounts. Have you installed the new O2 sensors and drove it yet?

Thanks for the posts. The sensors I took out were ones I put in years ago. They worked for quite a while. I don't think they were OEM.

The only way I can see the O2 sensors getting crushed is if the cat assembly gets pushed up against the bottom of the engine. I think the exhaust system might flex enough for this to happen if the rear motor mount is bad. I had to flex the pipe out of the way to get one of the crushed sensors out (downstream)! But it could be this only happens if you have aftermarket sensors that are a bigger diameter.

I have the smaller diameter NKTs in now. When I put the rear motor mount in, they looked ok. I still have a code P0171 though. Working on the PVC system now.
