Best way to remove a hatch badge

So my parts car has a good looking SVT Focus badge on the hatch. I am selling the hatch in a few days and its going to get painted red and go onto a red base zx3. Anyways I am wanting to pull the badge off so I can store it for later to make a new one. Figure heat could help get the glue off. Best way for this?

heat the panel from the opposite side with a heatgun while applying slight pressure to the badge depending on the age the foam may split or the glue may soften and separate from the body

Sounds easy enough. Figure I can get this off tonight as well as the rest of the rear suspension and gas tank. Guy is coming for the rear quarter panel so got to get this stuff out of the way.

First clean a good area around the badge so you're not grinding filth into the paint.

Use Dental Floss or Fishing line to cut the sticky backing, take care as it will try to move in front of the pieces of the badge, use a sawing motion with your fingers as close to the panel as you can get the most traction.

Once the badge is off, use a hairdryer on high or heat gun on low to soften the adhesive and the rest of the remaining backing. Peel away the backing with your fingers, and clean up the adhesive with (no lie) an eraser, preferably a little brick one, not on a pencil as the metal holder WILL GOUGE THE PAINT WHEN IT BREAKS OFF.

I've done 4 or 5 cars with this method, no issues except the first for a small scratch when the pencil eraser broke off.

Got it off. Was not to worried about the paint as the hatch it getting painted red. Badge came off with enough heat. Now sitting in some wax paper for when I want to send it off to make a new one. Figure the badge was going to get trashed anyways might as well take it off.
