Is it worth buying?

Hey all, new member here, Thinking about buying a 2002 Focus SVT. It has 160,000 miles on her, been talking to the owner all day about it. He says it has a new engine, tranny, clutch all from a donor car he found here. He said the engine has about 60,000 miles on it, says its bore&stroked, with headers the body is pretty good, has some fade on the back bumper and driver mirror, nothin to big, what looks to be a soccer ball sized dent on the driver back qtr panel right above the rear tire. All in all it sounds to be all brand new, the only thing it needs is a battery. It looks real good in pics, also, has a Evo carbon fiber hood and some aftermarket headlights. What yall think? Oh also says it's been sitting for 3 months

If the owner is saying it's stroked he does not know what he is talking about or its a very rare engine.

Price is everything what does he want for it? For $750 a SVT not running would be worth it. If he is asking for more than $3500 then I would not even consider it. 2002 we are getting up to over 15 years old now. It has dents, can't easily swap those rear quarter panel so will be costly to repair if it can't easily be pulled.

Fade is normal for this car.

I would want the Vin # from the done car. More engine specifics. Who did the machine work? What brand of parts... Etc. Also want to know why he swaped the engine. Broken timing belt?

I would want to drive it at least 50 miles and see if or what codes come up so you have an idea what it needs

He didnt spend that kind of money just to sell it cheap unless there is a problem , what the price of the SVT ?

Make sure its a SVT Engine back in there

To check that it has an SVT engine make sure it has the intake VCT solenoid, intake cam gear, oil cooler on filter.

I did not want to post it on here since you Privet Messaged me the price he was asking and details.

I would not spend more than $1.5k on it unless he can produce more information and resos for the motor swap and details about the other car.

He has no documents for the other car. He said he got it from someone on this forum.

How would I check all that? I'm guessing the oil filter would be obvious.

Google pictures of Focus SVT engine. And compare to what's installed in it.
