Oil Burning

Hello,

My 2003 ZX5 Ford Focus SVT has been mostly sitting for a few months, and now i am trying to sell it, but there seems to be an issue with the oil burning.

I decided to get the oil freshly changed and the place didn't mention anything wrong, but on my way home i noticed a smell so i popped the hood and pulled the oil dip stick out and it was smoking hot and smoke was coming off of it. I could barely grab the plastic top of the dip stick. The oil temp gauge never got too high, and only went up to about half way.

Ideas? Maybe the oil change place screwed something up? (im not a car guy...)

Thanks,
Erik

How close to Ohio are you? Your dipstick tube on the SVT's gets hot. Just the design of it going thru the header. On any SVT you can see that the dipstick gets hot and has burned oil on it and the tube will rust out from the heat. Many have replaced these pieces. You can clean the dip stick up and then add a heat reflecting type sleeve to the dipstick tube. DEI Heat Sheath Sleeving | JEGS
