Thats sounds like it'd at the very least need the head rebuilt w/ new valves & clean up the nicks on the pistons if it was revved high at the time or possibly new pistons. You'd want to remove the head before buying & this is no 4000. car now. Price out what you'll need to do & price out another motor. Me= I'd be looking for the cleanest lowest mileage zx5 I could find no matter where it is.

If the belt is broken I'd offer less than $1000. No matter how nice it is, it most likely has engine damage.

confused, OP says "everything works" then a another poser asks for clarification and someone other than the OP says it broke.

So clearly not everything works or someone else is interpreting?

A picture or two of the car also can help. check for rust, please check for rust.... I hate rust....

condition of tires, does it have the correct wheels? does the seat heaters work, condition of leather shifter and steering wheel. does it have rotted out heat shields. look at the small things because those can lead to huge efforts on this car.
