Exclamation Overheating! Ford Focus SVT 2003 Overheating under load

So, my focus is overheating under load.
Whenever at idle she cools fine and is at running temperature.

When I'm on the highway or slamming gears or driving for about 30 minutes, she starts to overheat. Close to the red needle.

She overheated on me and spilled out coolant out the reservoir tank.

The only time she will cool down is at stoplights or with the heater on. AC cools her down too but when the compressor kicks it, it makes the temperature rise again since she gets hot under load.

I have replaced, timing belt, water pump, thermostat, radiator and I drained and refilled coolant. And I bled the system out of air pockets.

Any suggestions anyone?

Fans are coming on, and the sensor works because the sensor is telling the ECM that the focus is overheating. I can see that it is in fact overheating.

I did notice that there is smoke comin out of the reservoir.

Wonder about catalytic converter. If you are 100% sure that the coolant is correct, with a good degas cap, and that the low speed fans and high speed fans are working then could be a clogged cat? I have heard that under load conditions on a clogged cat you could have over heat conditions when under load but works normal when at idle.

Cat is not clogged, it does not glow red, and I can feel enough back-pressure at the tailpipe. Also it's a new high-flow cat so I know that isn't the issue.

The fans kick on.

When you say low speed and high speed what do you mean?

At idle...the needle goes up to the middle then both fans kick on.

If I turn on the AC, both fans kick on.

I need to double check if only one fan turns on at times. It is 100 degrees outside too.

I am going to get a coolant cap today and test to see if that will solve this issue, I highly doubt it though.

To my understanding the fans spin at a lower speed when the AC is not on, and a higher speed when the AC is on.

How old is the coolant? Could have a faulty thermostat (even new ones have had failures). Boiling out of the degas replace the cap? might not be holding correct pressure?

Coolant is new. I flushed the system simply by draining it, and running a hose through the coolant reservoir with the radiator cock opened. Drained it completely. Then filled it back up 50/50 with cock closed.

I will take out thermostat tonight and check if it opens and closes.

Coolant is boiling out the reservoir along with smoke coming out, with cap on or off.

I ran the car with the cap off and it didn't overheat on me; however, coolant spilled everywhere lol so I don't know if it was boiling outside of the reservoir. When I came back, I had to fill the system back up with water. It was almost near empty.

When I put the cap on. Car was overheating on me...so it might be the cap. And there was smoke comin out the reservoir with the cap on.

Remember it is only overheating under load. When I'm at idle I have no issues.

I found the issue. The new fans I installed, the polarity in the wires were backwards causing the fans to spin backwards. So I was overheating when airflow went through the radiator, yet cooling off at idle.

I replaced, thermostat, radiator cap, radiator, water pump and wasted 2 coolant jugs. Yay for me.
