As a body guy myself your car is not that bad for what it is. I would keep it and either find a donor car or sell it as a project. Letting the insurance take it and total it out for what is wrong is a waist IMHO.
As long as the Unibody was not damaged it is fixable with out a shop being involved.

The SVT I picked was in an accident and the front end was all messed up. One of the previous owners did an OK job fixing the car. The Bumper was jacked up as well as the headlights had been replaced. There is still some wiring issues I am working out but all in all its was worth fixing it up and not letting it become a parts car for the scavengers around here.

But I vote to Keep it or See if you can get the clam but buy it back and fix it back up.
1st Focus: 2005 3Dr SES. (Parted out and scrapped)
2nd Focus: 2003 5Dr SVT (Fixed it up, then Sold it)
3rd Focus: 2014 ST (I am in Love with it

First off, I want to thank all of you for the advice and support over this issue. It truly is appreciated.

Still, this is killing me. You don't know how much I'm agonizing over this.

My biggest issue is time and space to do the work. I could park it in the garage and work through it but would take me forever and drive me nuts as I still need to find a car for my son to drive while at school.

I'm partly posting this here in case anyone would be interested in it once I find out what the buy back from insurance would be. The car is sitting in Lawrence, KS and will start incurring storage charges Thursday this week.

I don't like the prospect of one more SVTF off the road any more than you guys do.
