I decided an SVT was in order

Background: Back in September 2014 i bought my first car, a Red Ford Focus ZX3 - 5 Speed, not knowing how to drive a manual yet figured id learn on something cheap and $1500 later i got a cobbled together focus that was lowered and had a body-kit that i swear grabbed onto everything near it... but i got a solid to years(2yrs 1day to be exact) out of it before the differential went out in the transmission and i decided i want going to mess with fixing it and sold it for $350 and replaced it w a nice 2014 Ford Focus Se - Automatic - 32,000 miles (September 2016) which I have enjoyed driving (great for a daily commuter... in the last 6 months ive added 20,000 to that 32,000 miles and enjoyed having the reliability of the 2014) I just get bored due to the fact its an automatic and also dont like the fact that Insurance is expensive for full coverage on a car that new, ive decided to purchase my 3rd car a exceptionally well taken care of 2003 Ford Focus ZX3 SVT EAP - Comp. Orange - 72,000 Miles and i could be happier to get a manual transmission back and have a fun cheaper car!!

So what mods would you guys recomend? The car is 99% Stock, only thing done is a Toms Tune... otherwise its a blank canvas!!

The first thing im doing is rwplacing the stock Audiophile head-unit w/ a Double-din touch screen head-unit probably with Android Auto.

Great find....Just figure out when the t/b was changed. Has a tune= great. I'd do a sts, tint, orp. Add Eibach sway bars 22mm/25mm bars. When it needs a brake job add Baer's Eradispeed rotors w/ matrix pads. Other then that its pretty much setup. Great drivers car= enjoy....

Timing belt hasnt been done (only 72,000 miles on it) was thinking id probably do it at 80,000 and tint would definatly be nice as would swaybars... what is STS and orp. Though?

STS = Short Throw Shifter

ORP = Off Road Pipe (replacement for CAT, needs tuning for CEL - obviously a possible emissions issue, save the CAT).

But don't put off the timing belt if original - that's at least 14 years old and not to be trusted.

Ahh an STS is a very good idea and good thing i dont have to worry about emissions here in Iowa. I dont know if i want to mess with exhaust quite yet but a good future project. Thanks for the suggestions!!

I'd do the timing belt as soon as you can, even if it only has 72K on it. Its a wise investment even if you don't think its at risk of breaking since the SVT's are an interference engine. Way cheaper than trying to source new engine parts.

I changed mine last year on my '04 with 71K on it, just for the peace of mind.

One thing that surprised me was tires. I never knew that having nice set of sticky could change things so much. It's not drastic, but I felt no change with ORP, cold air intake, or motor mounts just more noise and a shaking dashboard. Tires were something you could "feel" the difference. Just my .02.
Awesome find by the way.

I took my STS off and went back to stock. I kept missing gears or finding the wrong one when raming through them. I don't think it was the shifter itself, more of an operator error. But it wasn't for me. Just an FYI.
