'03 for sale near philly, why sell such a nice car non-operating?

Hi,
as the owner of a humble ZX3, I'm really jealous of all the nice stuff on this car. Although I notice the volant intake is missing the hood seal?

Why not fix the fuel pump? Makes me think the drivetrain has other problems...

Anyone know what those wheels are?

I cant post ad, can someone post red,2003 SVTF from philadephia craigslist?

It has white wheels, euro front bumper...looks amazing

03 5 speeds are pretty durable, the only thing i see which he has failed to mention is the timing belt which is way past due for replacement if the belt is whats gone then kiss that top end goodbye.. you can tell if the top end is fubared just by cranking it.. it will hardcore fart out the intake

Zetecs/SVT's HAVE to get the timing belts done at about 100,000 miles you can get a little more out of them but your pushing it.. zetecs can survive a timing belt failure.. svts not a chance..

4th down, but close enough to home in on the one you were looking at.

Assume an engine that's toast as far as I'm concerned.

Fuel pump isn't a SMALL item, but if you want $ for a used car it needs to run. Some give up on a car when just ONE more item craps out, that can't match when you are claiming great maint. & operation in your ad.

It's worth MUCH less since you have to assume a junk engine, even with a compression check it would be a crap shoot.

REAL good chance of timing belt issue and bent valves.

Turn it on with a scan tool connected to prove/disprove the fuel pump contention - assuming he didn't trip the collision breaker or remove/blow a fuse to make it look that way. No turn over/compression check allowed & you're back to my assumption again. even with a good compression check, there are many other issues that may exist he didn't want to deal with.

sadly obd2 readers dont bring up errors for fuel delivery issues (failed pump) if the battery is in fact still attached and not detached you can possibly pull codes if that timing belt was going as it will jump out of spec and pop codes for advance/retard timing, mix or misfire.

Collision breaker xD hehehe Inertia shutoff.

a quick check is grab a jar pop off the line to the injector rail and stuff it in the jar and turn the key to on but dont crank, if it has fuel then the pump is not the issue if it doesnt then i would look at the fuse or fuel pump delivery module. if those are fine then the lovely task of fuel pump replacement.. (uhg that reminds me i get to smell like fuel for a week i need to take my tank off tomorrow)

Don't laugh, I was trying to use language that could generally be understood by anyone.

'Inertia shutoff" is correct, but often not as readily recognized/understood.

An OBD reader could bring up a number of fuel delivery issue 'codes' on these cars, but I was bypassing that to go directly to the more solid evidence of whether a scan tool showed fuel pressure that was appropriate.

Quite a few have spewed fuel without having enough fuel pressure to run.

Better not to pick too many nits, you mentioned it as a 5-spd and that's not correct for an SVT. Let's just try to help out this poster.

i wish the last 3 cars that died would of givin me a hint the fuel pump went cactus. 2 of them happen to of died before the warranty coverage expired by the time i was able to get to them (as no codes showed up) i would of send them all to ford for the new pumps... my personal wagon also had a cactused pump so yeah xD tank came down and i managed to swap the pump while it was hanging off its fuel lines xD..

thankfully the wagon im scrapping has a pump installed in 2012 when i installed a brand new ECU so SCORE spare pump xD..

P.S. if your ead my previous posts in the past its a quick and dirty way to see if you want to get technical then yeah drill tap and stuff a shraeder valve or even cheat one direct on the line to see but of course.. hehe OBD can tell you the PSI
(laugh all you want my focus ran fine at 19.6 and never had an issue but others will contest its to low but its run at ~19 for 7 years straight before its pump bit it and that was my fault when i let the car sit outside parked with a near empty tank on subzero weather there was just enough water in the pump to freeze it and deform the pump internally and it seized)

Gettin' WAY of topic here.

As long as you have some decent pressure it can run, but WAY too many in General Tech questions ASSUME it will have pressure once hooked up just because it spews some fuel unhooked.
