Planning on purchasing 2004 SVTF tomorrow.

Hello everyone, as the title says, I plan on purchasing a 2004 red SVT Focus tomorrow. I currently drive a Ford Raptor, and I off road in it a lot. I took a course from Rally Ready recently to help with the truck and it got me into looking at rally. Found a few rally course in the area and that's how I came across the Focus Andy this forum. I really liked the SVT model, and figured it'd be a nice addition to my other SVT.

Back to the Focus, from what I've seen it's in really good shape, does have 150,000 miles but that's too be expected. Owner doesn't have much info on it, so I plan on treating it like it needs a lot of work, maintenance wise. Interior looks really good and paint looks to have held up well. Looks like it was taken care of tbh.

The price on it is $1900, and that's the only reaosn I'm considering buying it with such high miles and no maintenance records.

I've read about the timing belt, so definitely plan on getting that changed asap, like maybe same day. What should I expect to pay for parts and labor? Also what else should I change immediately? Read maybe the tensioner and/or water pump.

I've tried reading as much as I can, but this is kind of a buy on a whim secenario so I'm not as prepared as I should be, but I don't think I can pass up on the price.

Anyway, thanks for any and all help, and hopefully tomorrow I'll be a new SVTF owner and can post up some pics. Then it'll be mod time!!!

Bad ass raptor!

For the timing belt, its been a few years since I paid someone to do mine, but if I recall parts were reasonably inexpensive (less than $100 for the belt and pullys) and labor should only be a few hundred. Budget $500-600, IIRC.

One other very common issue is the thermostat housing cracking, so if its leaking coolant or low on coolant, that's probably where the issue is. Again a fairly inexpensive repair.

Thank you, it's been a few years of work, but almost at a stopping point with the Raptor, hence the new project, lol. It never ends.

Ok, that's very reasonable. Where's the best place to pick up parts? Tasca???
