You plan on keeping it until it dies? honestly the oem one has problems but they don't show for 80k plus miles usually. Can go C-F-M one but that is 150$.

Somewhat difficult to read your post.

How can you tell it looks like it's going to go?
If the surface was cleaned and prepared correctly it should last a good length of time. Also want to make sure it is not over torqued, it's an easy way to create small stress features for premature failure.

This is a well known issue. Replaced 2 thermostats and o-ring not sealing. Used permatex water pump thermostat housing RTV silicone. Did this on 2 of my SVT. Works great.

Pasta, do you know if the Contour housings also need to be sealed with silicone? I just replaced my horribly leaky OEM one with the contour kit from CFM.

Should not need it with either. Its just an added protection if someone want to. The Contour is a metal housing so should not need it as much and should work fine with a regular gasket... but the stock plastic one should also work fine with just the rubber gasket.
