I've been running Nokya yellow 9005 for five years, I got the idea from old Terminator and FJ threads. They're the standard 65w high beams on older GMs, the fogs too low and too far from the main beams to get flashed. They really don't look that bright standing in front of the car, but in the seat there is a huge improvement.

I did make a separate fog harness that is the 'DOT legal fog light mod' (I never liked the look of the jumper wire and I wanted to switch beam patterns), but it uses the same gauge wiring and relays as stock. I just took the fogs out recently for new vinyl and everything looked good.

Good idea!

Thanks, I like the idea of 65 watts (more lighting). I drive a two-lane highway, every midnight, after work. There are a LOT of animals that I see along the shoulder, &/or on the roadway.
The 7K HIDs don't really "look" bright to me, so maybe some better driving-lights would help!
So, I assume these would be available in clear? Also, what is the DOT harness replacement that you referred to?

7k hid is way to high for any substanstial output.

Check out CLICKY and look for something closer to the 4800-5000k range for bulbs and you'll get waaaay more light. Which HIDs are you using? Factory Machs? or?

DOT legal means that the fogs go off when I hit the high beams. The popular "Fog light mod" done here allows the fogs to work with the parking lights, but it disables the 'fogs off with highbeams' function. So I'd pass inspection on the spot if I lived in an inspection state like MO. I really wanted the beam pattern to change... and the Machs in HB mode plus 65w fogs would be ridiculous.

Any 9005 bulb found in a store is what I would get in clear. I only went with the Nokyas because I wanted yellow fogs which are better in storms.
